International walk to school day

Primary Adventure

Sunday, September 27, 2009

Once upon a time, I thought it would be fun to walk to the primary
party...After all we had been doing more exercise as a family (walks and bike rides). The weather had been feeling good lately and Sumner was BEGGING to ride his scooter. I decided to give it a whirl. I made an all ice sippy cup and grabbed the sunscreen and we were off.

About 10 feet into our 1+ mile walk, I thought its really bright and grabbed the umbrella for SaraJane. When we were about 50% of the way there Sumner started saying things like,"Mom, this IS the desert, are you trying to kill me". I assured him he was fine, but finally gave in and carried his scooter so he could have a chance holding the umbrella for shade. In case you've never done it, pushing a stroller while carrying a scooter is not easy. We finally saw the park and Sumner was off, sprinting toward the fun. I was left carrying the scooter, umbrella and pushing SaraJane through 200 yards of overgrown grass.

Sumner and SaraJane had fun eating ice-cream and playing. Then came our great trip home. We barely made it across the grass field before Sumner was lecturing me on how I loved SaraJane more because she got to ride in the stroller. Then came the, "I am going to die, I am really gonna die". Finally when we were 75% of the way home I gave up.

For the rest of the trip I had the joy of carrying SaraJane and the umbrella, while pushing 50 pound Sumner in an umbrella stroller while he held his scooter. Wow, that was a good idea. When I got home our temperature gauge thing said 108. Best day ever. :)

New York!

Friday, September 18, 2009

We had so much fun in New York. I loved spending time with just RyanDavid. He is my best friend and we had a blast being tourists! Can't wait until our next trip. The picture above is RyanDavid and me waiting at the train-stop in Queens. It a train-stop not a subway-stop because its above ground.

RyanDavid loves Times Square. He loves the lights and all the hustle and bustle. I am sure he would love living there.

The World's Largest Toys R Us. It was pretty big, but aren't all Toys R Us store huge? We rode the Ferris Wheel and shopped for the kids.

Yum NYC pizza, delivered to our hotel room. It was bliss.

The 5th Ave Apple store. We went here 3 times. RyanDavid got a behind the scenes tour. It was probably the coolest building I've ever been in. I mean its glass!

Outside the Apple Store, trying to take a picture of ourselves.

I think my favorite part of the trip was a tour of Central Park in this bike carriage thing. Our tour guide Medi was so nice and tried really hard to tell us jokes.

Central Park, this is RyanDavid's favorite trip picture. I like how I am wimpy and cold and RyanDavid has a T-shirt and shorts on.

Strawberry Fields and true love = happiness

We went on the super neat night time tour of NYC. Half way through we stopped and took a boat trip out to see the Statue of Liberty. Here we are waiting to get on the boat.

My favorite picture from our trip. I think its so romantic. :)

Mary Poppins on Broadway. We had a cute little box all to ourselves and got to enjoy a really fabulous show!

I saw everyone carrying American Girl Doll bags and I had to go. I have loved them every since I was a little girl, drooling over the catalog of over-priced dolls. I was going to buy one for SaraJane. I think I will wait until she actually can tell a difference between a $ 3 Target baby and a $40 bitty baby from American Girl. Oh and Kami, we are taking our girls here or at least the one in LA for SaraJane's 8th birthday. Mark your calendar.

On our last day in the morning before our afternoon departure we rented bikes and road around Central Park. I loved every minute of our trip. I still can't believe I got to go on a trip with just my best friend. Life is good.

Staycation in Glendale over Labor Day

Monday, September 14, 2009

We all enjoyed our mini trip last weekend. We spent a night at the
Renaissance by the Glendale arena. The kids loved looking out the
window (9 floors up) and swimming. We ate yummy Tagliani, Papa's wings
and Burrito Bandito. I got a pair of Nike+ running shoes and we hung
with Nana and Papa. What a great weekend. Pictures from NYC to come.

She loves her babies

Sumner's 1st packed school lunch

Tuesday, August 11, 2009

Sumner's lunch is all packed for tomorrow. He told me about 2 weeks
ago that he wanted cold pizza on his first day. So tonight we got
pizza and extra for leftovers. The rest of his lunch was really what I
had lying around. I hadn't really thought of getting school food. This
all snuck up on me. His lunch is as follows:
2 slices of cold pizza
Applesauce
Sunflower seeds (his favorite)
A chocolate chip cookie
& Light lemonade to drink (I forgot to buy juice boxes!)

I have no idea how much he'll need so I packed a ton. Oh and don't
worry he also has a cold water bottle for school.
